Is really dang awesome.
It's entirely dungeon-crawl and combat oriented now, which is a good thing in a lot of ways. The skill list is a lot smaller and easier to manage, and if you really want to do the 'make an obscure knowledge check to not insult and king' you can approximate off what's there.
Combat runs a hundred times smoother now, and first-level characters are not just chumps for the meatgrinder.
It's very different from 3rd in a lot of ways, but it feels like its natural progression.
